Where do you look when you want to picture yourself? In the mirror or into the future?
The ability to be your best self may be limited by the different pressures and stress life throws your way. But it's most important to not give up on the person you truly want to become.
You can start taking actions now that allows you to start living a better version of your life. These actions can either be big or small changes. They may be easier to achieve than you think.
I am inspired by my own changes that is why I am writing this.
How to be your best self
Becoming your best self involves enhancing all areas of your life to encourage growth, focus on set goals and remove distractions.
All you need to get this done is a change of mindset. Allowing you to elevate your own positive thinking and create a sense of confidence.
Becoming your best self doesn't happen over night, a week or two or even a month. But rather it takes series of daily and consistent actions that can help you live the life that you want.
It is a journey that is smeared with little steps and better habits that can actually help lead you to a healthier and happier you.
Here are my 11 steps to get you started on your journey to living your best life.
Set Smart Goals
The first step and very important is to know your life aspirations. Picture your future and start setting goals. Make plans that can help you become that person you want to be. You can set smart goals in any area of your life. It may be to save money, a step up in your career, your health and so on. By setting goals, you are holding yourself accountable for the actions it takes to become the best YOU.
Leave Your Comfort Zone
Your comfort zone is where you feel safe, calm and all. A lot of people find it very difficult to leave their comfort zone. It can be a barrier for your goals and aspirations. Your best self will involve you to stretch beyond your comfort zone. Push yourself to make moves that may scare you a little. It may be showcasing your talent in public, starting a new conversation, starting a new business, speaking in front of people and so on. Leaving your comfort zone is usually rewarding and encouraging.
Live a Healthy Lifestyle
You need to be mentally and physically healthy to be your best self. Embody healthy habits daily. Eat healthy diets (breakfast), exercise often at least 4 times a week, meditate. The foundation of your best self is your physical and mental wellness in addition to daily habits you imbibe.
Find Help
Be your biggest fan, crush on yourself, celebrate yourselfas often as you can. However, it is equally very nice to find support from other people. People like your family and friends. Consider telling them about your goals and asking them to help you achieve them. Your family and friends will help you up and hold your hands as you step into a better lifestyle. It doesn't matter whether you need just a few words of encouragement or an accountability partner. They understand you and what you want.
Do Something New
Try doing something new it's particularly very refreshing. Do something you have not done before. Do new things like trying a new hairstyle, learn to cook a new dish, try new recipes. Trying new things helps you to explore your interests. Focus on yourself and push your limits.
Know And Highlight Your Strengths
Make a list of the top 10 things you like about yourself. It can be your career, your life in general. After highlighting these strengths, think of 10 different ways you can highlight these strengths and bring more value to your life by working on your existing strengths. By doing this, you help yourself achieve more and boost your confidence.
Use Positive Affirmations
Positive Affirmations are words of encouragement like I am enough, I am worth it, I am the best and so on. Incorporate these affirmations by writing them down somewhere you can easily see them every morning. Make it a habit to repeat your positive affirmations everyday especially at night before bed or early morning as you wake.
Be Realistic In Your Expectations
No one is perfect. Don't expect your best self to be perfect. Everyone experiences bad days from time to time so expect those bad days, they are totally normal. Even if you achieve all your goals and become the person you truly want to be you will still experience some bumps. All news are not good news so expect some good and at times some bad news.
Celebrate Your Small Wins
It's very important to celebrate your small successes no matter how little they are. Encouraging yourself is important in building confidence and strength. It might look small but in the end they are big.
Help Others
Becoming your best self may also involve leaving a positive influence on someone else or your community. It can be very rewarding to be of help to others. Helping others can mean supporting the people in your life to become the best version of themselves too or helping someone in need or just supporting a charitable organization. Find a course you can support it can be anything.
Show Gratitude
Have an attitude of gratitude. Gratitude is the show of appreciation for things, situations, opportunities and all the happenings in your life. A lot of people think gratitude is only focused on the positive things attached to their lifes but that is not true. Show gratitude for the good things and the bad things. A life of gratitude is a very meaningful life. Practicing gratitude helps you sleep better, you are happier, live healthier and enjoy better wellness, you will be more resilient, have and enjoy better relationships and so much more.
Becoming the best version of yourself is attainable if you take action now. Focus on positive daily habits and allow your way of thinking evolve into a new you.
Becoming the best version of yourself is a decision only you can take then others can support you. All you need is to be intentional and committed.
