Business development can be said to be the initiatives and activities carried out by a business owner that makes his or her business better.

These activities can be in many different forms like marketing, sales, business expansion, strategic partnerships
Making strategic business decisions, strategic innovations, and the list goes on and on. A good and well planned Business development plan must impact all parts of the business. Whether it's marketing, sales, products or development.

Before you start thinking "I am already in Business this one doesn't concern me it's for people who want to start business". No! Business development is not for start ups alone, it's for both existing and soon to be existing companys.
Business development can be one of the fastest ways to grow your business. It can be very time intensive. It requires focus , planning, stamina and doggedness. If you do it the right way you'd reap hugely but when you do it wrongly it's very discouraging.

This is a very serious part no wonder it's hard. Instead of going after peoples wallets, consider going after their heart. Add value by building good relationship with customers. I am not saying you should start running after customers and making relationship. It's a business relationship keep it that way but yet find ways you can add value to their lives by eg providing knowledge, information, being an advisor, treating customers well, after sale services, and so on building trust takes time but is worth it
People rarely believe what you tell them rather they believe what they tell themselves. Your public persona and your actions over time is what will influence what people tell them about you.

3. Use Testimonials 

The use of testimonials is working wonders in so many businesses especially online businesses. I want to believe we have all leveled up and are online with our business at least WhatsApp and Google. Use testimonials a lot of people want to hear what others are saying concerning your product and you. And the good thing is it also helps to establish credibility.
But don't go over board with the testimonials alot of times we tend to beware of these things. Ask people for testimonials but make sure they write them of their own free will so it doesn't sound off when people read it. Words can actually give a person's emotions away.

If you're on Google my business check your review section and make sure to respond. Make sure to let your website or online store visitors know you are big on reviews by displaying it boldly or asking for it.

5. Ask For The Business. 

After everything always ask for the business. Post and talk about your business constantly and consistently. Talk about whatever you do at every opportunity you get. Do business presentations a closed mouth is a closed destiny.

Pay attention to your Website, your Facebook business pages, your Whatsapp business catalog, your Instagram and all your, business locations. If you have a website pay attention to it. It's not enough to list your products and services and go away there must be constant updates and activities. Sharpen your skills by reading and acquiring more knowledge. Attend seminars, take online classes, attend trainings and listen to podcasts.  There are many convenient options for busy people to develop their skills without missing anything.

Make everyone working with you aware of how important your business is to you. Your workers must be aware and carried along so they know what to do and say at any given time. Speed, politeness, energy can make the difference between losing or winning a customer. Having the energy will help you in achieving and moving your business forward.
